Last year’s pilot project on opening the school library at Lingfang Central Elementary School requires an evaluation. Volunteers evaluated the social, educational, and cultural impact of the library and make proper suggestions for utilizing it more efficiently and creatively. To extend the usefulness of the library to the larger village community, volunteers also experimented community activities centered on library usage.

  • To evaluate the social, educational, and cultural impact of the library that was opened last year using quantitative and qualitative methods
  • To better understand the role of school library in rural education and analyze its unrealized potentials in teaching, learning, and community building as of current use

Education Assistance
Educational Projects
  • Student contests: organize competitions to motivate and activate students’ interest in composition writing, story-telling, group learning, and general knowledge learning.
  • Teaching assistance: utilizing specialty knowledge among the volunteers to conduct training lectures and workshops in areas of the volunteers’ interests and needs. Some sought after assistances are in the areas of information technology, English, and new educational and pedagogical ideas.
  • Intellectual stimulation: organize workshop, essay contest, and educational material regarding the topic of Quality Education.

Understand the Community

Daily Life
All four team members lives in the house of the Vice-Principle of Lingfang Central Elementary School. Breakfast and dinner provided at the house and lunch provided at the teacher’s living quarter in school. During the shadowing period, all four team members will be living in the teacher’s dormitory.
