Dr. Chen received B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, M.S. degree in Control Science & Engineering from Zhejiang University, China in 1999 and 2002, and Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University (MSU) in 2009. In September 2009, he joined the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia as a research associate. He is a member of IEEE, ASME, and SPIE. He received a Honorable Mention for the Fitch Beach Outstanding Graduate Research Award from the College of Engineering at MSU. His research interests include Electroactive Polymers (EAP) sensors and actuators, MEMS-based fabrication of bio-inspired EAP devices, smart microsystems, and biomimetic robotics. |
