This is a light-hearted set of seven variations on the French folk song Aupres de ma Blonde. It is scored for reed trio, oboe, English horn (or clarinet), and bassoon, and is about five minutes long. I wrote the work for fun when I read a query on the double reed internet from the oboist David de la Nuez concerning works for this combination of instruments. I couldn't think of an existing composition for these three double reeds, so I decided to write one.
