What does it mean to foster a Morgan?

You provide shelter, food, farrier, ordinary veterinary care and handling for the Morgan you are fostering. Keep careful records of your expenditures for the horse, because those are considered a donation for tax purposes. (You can't write off the feed, say, for your entire herd, but you can write off the feed consumed by that one animal.)

Veterinary expenses that are unusual are paid by ForeverMorgans through fundraising efforts, as are other unusual expenses. Such expenses should immediately be brought to the attention of the FM Board, BEFORE treatment if at all possible.

The foster is in the best position to evaluate the Morgan in their care, as they are in one on one daily contact with the horse. Remember, always, that these horses may have been through a lot before landing in your gentle hands, and may need some special handling and love before they'll come around.

You're teaching them to learn to trust again, and that requires  understanding that they won't immediately be the perfect Morgan that they were born to be.

You may also be asked to talk with prospective adopters
to give them your feedback on the animal and any information you might have about their quirks, likes, dislikes, and how they've been fed/housed/vetted/etc. while in your care.

Approved foster homes are always first in line should they desire to make their relationship with their horse "forever" ! Bonding happens, after all...

Foster homes should always feel free to contact ForeverMorgans for advice & concerns! We want all our adopters to know that they have our support, & gratitude, for what they do.

Our Mission Statement:

ForeverMorgans is an organization of volunteers whose purpose is to be a resource for Morgans in need, whether they are surrendered, rescued from shelters, auctions, kill buyers, or simply removed from potentially dangerous situations. ForeverMorgans wishes to open our virtual barn doors to all Morgans in need of safe and loving homes. We focus on registered Morgans but will consider unregistered Morgans on a case-by-case basis.

ForeverMorgans is eternally grateful to Katie Rall Jump, who many years ago realized there was a need to rescue Morgans. From the seed of her idea, this organization was born.
