Sometimes rescue isn't just about finding the right forever home for a horse... sometimes it's about ensuring that a critically ill horse has the most appropriate veterinary treatment, and when the time comes, ensuring that horse's life ends in the most dignified and humane way possible, surrounded by loving caretakers.

The "Kahlua Fund" has been established, and is growing, to make sure we always have sufficient funds to accomplish this when it becomes necessary.

Who was "Kahlua" ?

Kahlua

"Kahlua" was saved from a broker lot in December 2010. She was named Kahlua because of her beautiful coffee-and-cream coloring and mane and tail.

She went to foster with a generous soul who immediately recognized that this kind little elderly mare was in need of significant veterinary treatment.

Perhaps she went to the sale because a previous owner couldn't afford to maintain her. Perhaps her most recent owner knew something was wrong, but never had her diagnosed. The presence of already-healed surgery scars indicated that someone, somewhere, knew of her plight.

Whatever the reason, Kahlua was fortunate to spend her final weeks under the loving and specialized care of an extraordinary foster mom & compassionate veterinarians, Drs. Emily Olson and Misty Gray, whose judgment ForeverMorgans respected when the most difficult call had to be made.

We would all like to think there won't be more "Kahlua"s, but we know there will... please help us maintain her fund by sending a designated donation to it. Every horse deserves the kind of end-of-life care we were able to extend to Kahlua.

Our Mission Statement:

ForeverMorgans is an organization of volunteers whose purpose is to be a resource for Morgans in need, whether they are surrendered, rescued from shelters, auctions, kill buyers, or simply removed from potentially dangerous situations. ForeverMorgans wishes to open our virtual barn doors to all Morgans in need of safe and loving homes. We focus on registered Morgans but will consider unregistered Morgans on a case-by-case basis.
