Ghent, Belgium

There is a castle in the center of Ghent. It's not really as old as it looks. Old, but it is a reproduction of a castle from a still earlier age.

I never did see the giant stainless steel spider that wove this.

The castle was open for self guided tours and was pretty much deserted.

The iron work was spectacular.

And check out the stone rosette.

This was a receiving hall.

Nearby was a church with some wonderful light.

The spaces seemed to beckon me forward.

The woodwork was one hand crafted masterpiece after another.

And behind the altar was this masterwork in stone and gold.

The wind is blowing towards me as it ripples the water. I can almost smell the canal even now.
