Thomas

Thomas was born on January 11, 1996 in Bulgaria, where he lived in an orphanage from the time he was a few weeks old. My wife and I adopted him on May 25, 1998. Thomas is now an American boy in every sense of the word: he is an aficionado of McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Walmart. He is a happy and high-spirited little boy, as the pictures show.

Here Thomas is playing in the ball pit at McDonalds a few months after coming home.

We visited my father, Thomas's grandfather, in Tulsa. Here he is reading a book to Thomas, who was about three when this picture was taken.

In the summer of 1999 we spent two weeks at the beach with friends who have also adopted Bulgarian children. Here is Thomas with two of his best friends.

Thomas had just finished Kindergarten.
He was playing in a local soccer league.

This picture was taken in the summer of 2006. Thomas, now 10, had just climbed to the summit of Old Rag Mountain.

This was taken at Liquillo Beach in Puerto Rico, in December 2006.
