Early Education and Development

Early Education and Development - EE&D

I served as founder and editor of EE&D from 1989- 2003. I encourage you to submit a manuscript. EE&D focuses on empirical studies which address issues related to the education, care, and development of children from birth through age 8.

Instructions to Authors:

Manuscripts may be submitted either electronically via e-mail (preferred mode), or by regular mail. Regardless of the method of submission the manuscript needs to be in either Word or Word Perfect format (PC compatible). Each submissi on must include a cover letter, an abstract, and the complete manuscript including text, tables, and figures. If a manuscript is submitted via regular mail the author needs to submit one hard copy of all materials along with a PC compatible diskette with all the materials on it. Blind reviewing is used; therefore, the copy of the manuscript should include the following information: Title, name of author(s), and affiliation of author(s). The title should appear on the abstract and the first page of the t ext. Information about the identity of the author(s) contained in footnotes should appear on the title page only. The title page is not included when manuscripts are sent out for review. A cover letter to the Editor should accompany submissions and review requests.

An abstract of no more than 200 words must be included and divided into two sections: 1) research findings and 2) practice or policy. A copy of all tables and figures should be submitted with your manuscript. The publisher will require an electronic copy of your manuscript or an IBM compatible diskette along with a hard copy of your manuscript, figures, and tables once it has been accepted for publication.

Style must conform to that described by the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, (American Psychological Associaton, 1200 Seventeenth St., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036). Authors are responsible for manuscripts conforming to the APA style.

Acknowledgments of contributors or funding sources should be included on a separate page. Addresses for readers to write to request reprints should be included in a separate paragraph on the same page as the acknowledgments.

Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Early Education & Development, will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. The publisher will provide the necessary forms for this transfer. Such a written transfer of copyright, which previously was as sumed to be implicit in the act of submitting a manuscript, is necessary under the new U.S. Copyright Law in order for the publisher to carry through the dissemination of research results and reviews as widely and effectively as possible.

The Journal makes no page charges; reprints are available to authors and order forms with the current price schedule are sent with proofs.
