Algorithm
First, look on WebAssign to get your raw Homework (H), Lab (L),
and Quiz (Q) scores.
Second, use Table 1 (below) to find your TA’s average
assigned lab score (LTA) and the associated standard
deviation (
Third, calculate your curved lab score as follows: LC = (L-LTA )×
Fourth, calculate your final score: S = 0.2×H + 0.5×LC + 0.3×Q
Finally, look up your letter grade in Table 2 (below).
Example
The student’s scores (from WebAssign):
H: 93.22%
L: 82.51%
Q: 72.73%
Their TA’s statistics:
LTA : 85.51%
Overall statistics:
LOA: 92.23%
The curved Lab score is then: LC = (82.51% - 85.51%) × 5.89%/9.05% + 92.23% = 90.28%
The final score is then: S = 0.2×93.22% + 0.5×90.28% + 0.3×72.73% = 85.60%,
which maps to a letter grade of B.
