The Young Man From Atlanta
by Horton Foote

Production Notes

In our stylized production we explored the subtext of memory and emotion beneath the drama. The production was designed around a series of reflective moments when the internal lives of the characters are revealed with light, music, movement, and symbolic props. Momentary pauses in scenes were punctuated with light changes, movement or sound. Scene transitions were choreographed and staged to further reveal the character transitions that occur between scenes. A boy, cast to play the part of the mysterious "young man," exists only within these transitional scenes. This young man along with prop doll houses lit from within become central images from the memory of Will and Lily Dale as they try to come to grips with their son's tragic death.
