Seminar Policies and Procedures
    Methods for submitting work:
Weekly assignments that involve written responses should be submitted electronically via the course Collab site and brought to class in hard-copy format to facilitate use in seminar discussion.

      Documentation of Sources:
Any quotation or idea from another author or source must be properly cited in the appropriate MLA format.

A bibliography of sources in the proper MLA format must also accompany any work for which research is done. Some examples can be found on the Bibliography Page.

    Classroom Conduct:
This course deals specifically with lighting as a visual element of popular music performance. The larger sphere of this study includes many other aspects of music performance such as costume/fashion, scenery/themed environment, as well as music history and technology with all of it's various genres and cultural associations. As such, topics covered may touch on issues or images of sex, violence, drug culture, racism, sexism, etc. Students are encouraged to engage controversial subjects in a positive, educational, and inoffensive way. If a student finds material or another students comments offensive they are invited to respond in an appropriate way which will generate positive discussion of the issue. Alternately students may bring issues to the instructor privately for discussion outside of class.
