Here's My Attempt at a Homepage

I'm a research associate working at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in the Department of Cell Biology. I used to work on the microtubule-based motor protein known as cytoplasmic dynein. My graduate thesis work involved the first bona fide identification of this protein using the nematode C. elegans as a source, since it does not have any motile cilia thereby avoiding contamination of any cytoplasmic dynein with axonemal dyneins.  I then went on to make antibodies to the dynein heavy chain which I used to clone and sequence genomic DNA encoding the heavy chain (over 35 kb of sequence).  I then spent a couple of years after that working on the regulation of the cytoplasmic dynein intermediate chains.

I am now working on the regulation of gene expression in the male reproductive tract. I'll put together a page on this project sometime in the near future (when I get some spare time to design it).

My other main interest is in British cars, especially Triumphs. My daily driver is currently a 1970 GT-6+ (gotta scan those photos soon). It needs paint badly, but its great to drive, and a really fun little car. The car that I've owned the longest is my 1959 Triumph TR-3A. I've owned this car since April, 1978 and have now restored it twice.

However, most of my spare change goes toward the care and feeding of my 1962 Triumph TR-4. Well, it used to - I recently sold this car, and I am now racing a 1985 Swift DB-1 Formula Ford, which also consumes all my spare change (and then some).

Like everyone else, I've got a page of links to various things that interest me (some of these links may be outdated, however).
