Alumni in the News

Archive Update

*A book archive, consisting of books gleaned from the school libraries, has been established. The archive is designed to preserve those volumes that have significance for Woodstock history.

*We are actively seeking to extend our book archive with material written by or about alumni, or with books covering certain topics, such as the history of the West Himalayan region, and the history of the church and Christian mission in India. If any of you are disposing of such materials, please contact the Alumni Office: development@woodstock.ac.in.

*Warm thanks is due to Esther Riley ('S4) for her two months of voluntary work sorting the photo archive.

A Life Celebrated

In Woodstock School she was choir director, guidance counselor, substitute teacher, and assistant to the Superintendant. Later Erika Harper also served as Chair of the Board for the Allahabad Agricultural Institute, taught workshops all over the country training college faculty in modern objective measurement techniques, founded and directed the Allahabad Choral Society for over 25 years, and, in her volunteer work, helped villagers modernize their cottage industry.

After her death on April 2nd this year, her family set up the Erika S. Harper Memorial Fund to honour her extraordinary and dedicated life. The income from this endowment fund will be used to enhance the quality of instruction and performance of music at Woodstock School. We are deeply grateful to the Harper family for supporting Woodstock's long tradition of performing arts with this gift.
