http://www.myspace.com/video/indiafred/narrow-gauge-train-in-central-india-1940s/4363315
The silent (Weldon's #1, no sound) clip is of the narrow gauge train that runs from Raipur to Dhamtari. It was likely taken in 1941, given the fact that Stanley appears to be between 1 and 2 years of age. The train, like the one that Bob describes in western India, had a top speed of about 15 miles per hour, and was affectionately called "The Dhamtari Dasher" by the Mennonite missionaries. From Weldon #1.

The next clip (Weldon's 1.2, silent video, no sound) is taken of the school party leaving from Raipur in 1951. In addition to my fami-ly, persons you might recognize include Jerry W carrying a bister, the back of Elaine's head (long braids), Ed, Irene, and Betty W, and Verda H. I am seen standing around like I don't know what to do. The second school party scene is taken a couple of years later. From Weldon #1.2

C) Ootacamund train up steep Niligiri Hills South India (#2. 29 seconds. color)

It is interesting to see the formal attire with both men and women wearing hats, and dressed according to the style of the day. From Weldon #4.1
