Some students
in our class have mentioned that they are having trouble accessing
the class newsgroup. Here are some instructions that may
help, if you are using Netscape Communicator:
1) From the
Netscape Edit menu, choose Preferences.
2) Under
Category, double-click on the Mail
& Groups section.
3) Choose
the Groups Server subgroup.
4) The screen
will look like this:
Under Discussion
groups (news) server, type in news.virginia.edu.
Don't worry about the rest.
5) Now go
to the Contact Info link of the
ED7 site and try accessing the newsgroup.
6) If this
doesn't work, or if you are using a browser other than Netscape
Communicator and can't get to the newsgroup, then talk to me
after class. We'll see what we can do.
