Microfluidic Device Engineering
The University of Virginia's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is a seeking qualified candidate with experience in all of the following areas: cell biology, optical microscopy and microfluidic device engineering. This position is oriented towards research on the selective isolation of microbials and stem cells using electrically functional microfluidic devices for applications within infectious disease diagnostics, transplant engineering and targeted cancer therapeutics. In particular, it is required that candidates have a recent Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, bioengineering or electrical engineering and a strong publication record in various areas of microfluidics and biosensing. Strong candidates should also have familiarity with design and fabrication of microfluidic device systems for the analysis of microbial cells and biomarkers. Salary and benefits offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidates. This is a one year appointment; however, appointments may be renewed for additional one-year increments, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
