Teaching Experience
- Instructor: Calculus I, Fall 2006 -- Fall 2007 (University of Virginia). Taught Calculus for classes of approximately 35 natural science undergraduate students. Responsible for lecturing, assigning and grading homework, grading exams, and assigning final grades, as well as conducting office hours. Also ran weekly discussion sections for the Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 semester classes. Recognized by the department chair for outstanding evaluations for the Spring 2007 semester.
- Instructor: Applied Calculus I, Fall 2005 -- Spring 2006 (University of Virginia). Taught Calculus for classes of approximately 40 undergraduate students. Responsible for lecturing, assigning and grading homework, grading exams, and assigning final grades, as well as conducting office hours. Acted as exam creation coordinator for several other sections of this class during the spring 2006 semester.
- Teaching Assistant: Single Variable Calculus, Fall 2004; Multivariate Calculus, Spring 2005 (University of Virginia). Conducted weekly one-hour discussion sections for undergraduate students in the Applied Mathematics department. Responsible for creating and grading weekly quizzes as well as grading portions of exams.
Work Experience
- Cavalier Academic Support Team Tutor. Tutor at a drop-in tutoring center for student athletes at the University of Virginia. Topics included calculus, linear algebra, and introductory computer science. January 2008 - April 2008.
- Racquetball Instructor. Instructor for the Lifetime Physical Activity racquetball class (20 students), offered as part of the Physical Education program at the University of Virginia. August 2007 - December 2007.
- Assistant to WeBWorK System Administrator. Gained experience working with the WeBWorK online homework evaluation system under the guidance of Dr. Jeff Holt at the University of Virginia. Primarily focused on problem library upkeep. Fall 2006 - Fall 2007.
Research Experience
- Workshop on Algebraic Topology - Calculus of Functors and Applications, Lens, France, Summer 2006. Attended the invited lectures and participated in exercise sessions.
- Student Researcher, Lebanon Valley College, Summer 2002. Worked under Dr. David Lyons to gain an understanding of the Hopf fibration, and create tools to help visualize some of its properties.
