Colonel,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 15th
June, announcing the death of the late Lt.Col. Bull 3_th Ga Regt. I have
caused your kind and considerate communication to be transmitted to the
father of the deceased, to whom I doubt not it will afford a great
satisfaction to know that his son, in his last moments, enjoyed the care and
attention of a humane and generous enemy.
I thank you Colonel, for the kindness you have manifested to this
deceased officer, and trust that a like spirit will always mark the treatment
of the unfortunate wounded who may fall into the hands of either army.
I am Sir, very respectfully
Your obt servt
R E Lee
