Matlab: An Introduction
A MATLAB® tutorial in two parts by Michael D. DeVore and M. Ali Rauf
Matlab
Matlab, from The MathWorks Inc, is a technical computing software package that combines a high-level programming
language with visualization tools in an interactive computation environment. This tool is used for many applications
in science and engineering in research, industrial, and academic environments. It is useful in many areas of
electrical engineering, including circuit analysis, signal processing, and statistical analyses. Matlab is made available
for use by the University of Virginia community by ITC.
Hands-on tutorials for those wanting to gain a working knowledge of Matlab is provided in
the resources below. No previous programming background is assumed. In Session 1, we introduce the development
environment provided by Matlab 6.0, basic computational capability, and Matlab's Mathematical Function Library. In Session 2, we
look at visualization tools and Matlab's programming language.
