Singapore dealt with minimizing the cost in a joint location-inventory model
with a single upper-level supplier supplying to multiple capacitated
distribution centers which in turn supplies to multiple retailers with
varying demands. We consider both capacity levels and service levels of the
warehouses. We use the real-coded adaptive genetic algorithm to solve this
maximization problem. (This work was under the supervision of Prof. Chew Ek Peng and Prof. Lee Loo Hay). o My work for the Master of
Engineering at the University of Virginia was a project in health systems
engineering. Specifically, we analyzed ways to increase translational research
in medical research. We looked at how to increase collaboration between basic
science researchers, researchers conducting clinical trials and
practitioners, thereby increasing research in areas that require attention as
well as ways to take the results from clinical trials to implementation in
medical practice. This requires a feedback loop from end-users to basic
science researchers. This project allowed me to see how systems engineering
and systems analysis can be useful to medical research and design of health
systems. (This work was under the supervision of Prof. Michael Smith). Updated 31 April 2010 |
