Medieval Christian Biblical Exegesis in English Translation
This list attempts to collect all modern English translations of medieval Christian biblical interpretation in Catholic Europe from Gregory the Great (c. 600) to right before Luther (c. 1515).
While all medieval sermons made extensive use of biblical passages, I have tried to include only those which expound a single text and to leave out those which are more liturgical or thematic. When more than one translation exists, I have chosen the more complete, more recent, and/or more accessible edition. Names and order of biblical books (as well as numbering of chapters and verses) are according to the RSV and NRSV. Note: Psalms that I have not double-checked may be off by one chapter and/or verse.
