San Ildefonso Pueblo at Black Mesa

Black Mesa has deep religious and historical significance to the Indians. The pueblo is situated at the base of the mesa. The Taos Mountain range is visible in the background (about 50 miles away). The shot is taken from the White Rock Overlook where the opening scene of Silverado was shot. Near your feet, the Rio Grande River Gorge drops about 900 feet to the river below.
