Petroglyph National Monument

The Albuquerque lava fields, home of Petroglyph National Monument. The photos in this group were all taken in Rinconada Canyon. The lava cliff in the back is 100-200' high, and because of the low viewing angle, hides a series of volcano cones responsible for the flow.

Beautiful examples of Rinconada art. The hills in places are covered with art.

The face in the middle frame below is not modern, but represents a mask.

A beautifully stylized humming bird and a weathered thunderbird.
