The photo is pre 1983 and does not show the slopes on the left side that were added later. Valle Grande is the large snow covered bowel. That is Mount Taylor in the distant background on the upper right horizon, an extinct volcano which is a good 90 miles away. The vertical on the mountain is about 1000', but with a number of the blacks, it seems longer. Except on holidays, the mountain is only open on weekends and Wednesdays--the last that I heard.
