Pagosa Springs

Centrally located for skiing at either Wolf Creek Pass (the most snow in Colorado) or a stop over on the way to Durango or Mesa Verde. They do roll up the sidewalks at 5:00 in March, but the Crossroads Diner in town near the turn off to New Mexico is good, clean, and pleasant. Clearly a favorite of locals. Their current restaurant is 18 years old. Visited March 2001. It is also close to Chimney Rocks Ruins, a major archeological site. Unfortunately, it is not open to the public during the winter--the dirt roads become impassable.
