Greetings!

I am a senior scientist at the University of Virginia, with a joint appointment in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Systems and Information Engineering. I am also an affiliated faculty member in the NSF Nanosystems Engineering Research Center (NERC) for Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST). My research is in data science and analytics and cyber-human systems, with a focus on developing robust, adaptive and efficient cyber-physical-social systems through innovative data science insights and methodologies and novel mobile and wearable sensing systems design with provable guarantee to understand, examine and advance the relationship between human and technology. I am co-leading Integrated Networked Embedded Real-time Technologies in Applications (INERTIA) Group. Here is my latest CV.

[12/2016]: I served as a publicity chair in The 14th IEEE International Conference on Ubiquitous Intelligence and Computing (UIC 2017), San Francisco, USA, August 4-8, 2017. Here is the latest CFP, and the website is up now!

[11/2016]: I am going to offer ECE4550-002: Body Sensor Networks in Spring 2017.
[11/2016]: I am looking for talented graduate and undergraduate research assistants in computer science and engineering, focusing on data science and analytics.
[11/2016]: I contributed as a co-Principal Investigator in the Healthspan at University of Virginia, led by Prof. Zhen Yan. Healthspan is one of the five finalists of the 2015 Provost's call for Pan-University Institute proposals.
[11/2016]: I contributed as a Key Personnel in a grant proposal for Multi-Modal Objective Sensing to Assess Individuals with Context, IARPA.
[10/2016]: One paper was nominated as a finalist of best paper awards in IEEE Wireless Health Conference.
[10/2016]: One paper in BSN conference was invited for extending publication in IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics.
[09/2016]: I contributed as a co-Principal Investigator in a grant proposal submitted to Commonwealth Health Research Board (PI: Laura Barnes)
[09/2016]: One paper was published by IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics (Impact factor: 2.093)
[09/2016]: One paper was highlighted by IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing (Impact factor: 1.873)
[08/2016]: I received funding (PI: Laura Barnes) from the Department of Systems and Information Engineering to conduct studies on human emotions.
