Access to a projected water source within a kilometer of the home is a universal human right. The inordinate time and energy people in the developing world spend to collect water is a serious impediment to their development and health. Most households in my area spend several hours a day collecting water that is often of poor quality. This project will bring shallow wells to two communities thereby providing sustainable access to clean water to over 400 people.

About 30% of the water sources in Uganda are not functioning mainly because the community is not involved in their construction and do not know how to fix the pumps when they break. We are therefore using rope pumps, which is a simple technology using locally available parts and can be easily and cheaply repaired by the communities. Shallow Wells
