Although many in the development community have focused on increasing access to safe water sources, the lack of even basic sanitation facilities has proven to be a serious impediment in the development of many communities. Throughout Rakai District many households do have latrines, but they are of extremely poor quality. Through this project we intend to fabricate sanitary latrine slabs to be placed over deep pit latrine holes dug by community members.
