The Biscuit Rollers win blues contest at Sedalia!
A unique and really fun blues band, The Biscuit Rollers, go old-school with washtub bass, harmonica dobro and banjo. Singer Kelly Miller writes cool original songs, and his cohorts -- Scotty "Hambone" Gray and Jack "Poor Boy" Roy -- know their business. "Hambone" wore out the harp, standing on chairs at each side of the stage and handing out harmonicas and tiny biscuit rollers, while Roy made his old National resophonic whine, cry and menace.
The band was already on the bill for next weekend's Blue Ridge Blues and Barbecue Festival, and if their work on Saturday at Sedalia was any indication, the Rollers will turn on the crowd. Audio Video |
South 29

|
South29 cuts right through the heart of Virginia leaving its audiences awash in a simmering blend of a RAW in-your-FACE ROCKin' BLUES-a-DELIC music. With their first full length CD in the works, this group of classically trained musicians lays down tracks channeling the great blues men of years past with their own style of right-between-the-eyes riffs. South29 infuses the talents of six-string guitar slinger Chase Tanner, drummer Jason Ward, vocalist Wave Milor and bassists John Keefe. In their musical endeavors, South29's members have collectively crossed paths with the likes of Tinsley Ellis, Wes Jeans, The Nighthawks, Lance Lopez, North Mississippi Allstars, Tom Principato, Sean Costello, and Debbie Davies. In their unique fusion of blues, funk, rock and soul, S29 brings it to the stage, night after night, heavy and solid. |
