SACRAMENTO NORTHERN ON-LINE
AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL SN ON-LINE READERS
After twelve or so years, I have decided to discontinue writing new stories for SN On-line. I've said just about all that I wanted to say, or at least all that I have the necessary photos to make into a good story. Frankly, the quarterly rush to create a good story has taken its toll on my enthusiasm. I am now heavily into period archery and medieval reenactments, which at the moment are of far more interest than trains. SN On-line remains open for updates, corrections, or even complete revisions of existing stories (for example, a major rewrite of the caboose pages with larger photos is coming).
I still welcome stories submitted by you, the readers, and can put your raw text into a professionally readable form. I would especially like to explore Oroville, Colusa, the Chico airport extension, or the Transbay Terminal. Historic photos (and maps, as appropriate) for any of these topics are an absolute must.
SN On-line will be available until at least June 2013, when I plan to retire from the University of Virginia. Unlike faculty, we lowly staff members must surrender our server space upon retirement. I may be able to find another home for SN On-line at that time. We'll see.
It has been a pleasure to serve y'all over these years, and I greatly cherish the friendships SN On-line has brought. Best wishes to you all.
Your editor, in service,
Garth G. Groff
