The majority of my professional activities revolve around integration of educational technologies and K-12 education. Many of these interests involve the areas of technology and school reform and the diffusion of innovation in schools. I am a member of the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE), an international coalition of teacher education programs and faculty exploring effective methods for integrating educational technologies, currently serving as immediate past president and a member of the executive board.
I author, with Judi Harris, an on-going series of columns on K-12 telecomputing, Mining the Internet, that appears in the ISTE publication Learning and Leading with Technology (formerly the Computing Teacher). I am an associate editor of the International Journal of Educational Telecommunications and serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Technology and Teacher Education. I was a founding member of the Virginia Educational Technology Alliance (VETA), an organization of Virginia's teacher education programs committed to integration of technology in teacher education courses, and am involved in the on-going evolution of that association.
I am currently serving as co-director of the Curry Center for Technology and Teacher Education.During the current academic year we are exploring ways of supporting collaborative education activities. Pilot facilities established in the Curry School have permitted Curry faculty to jointly teach classes with instructors at other geographic sites.
