Ground Rules

The Rat Patrol Club and The Rat Patrol Oasis are for the discussion of the television show The Rat Patrol, including episodes, characters and fan fiction. There are a few ground rules you should observe, especially if you're new to the net.
Flames

No flames. Flames are personal and/or obscene attacks on another list member. If you insist on flaming other members, you will be permanently deleted from the club--no warnings. If you think your post to the list will insult someone, don't post it. Period. No discussion.

Spams

No spamming. Spams can be anything from chain letters to get-rich-quick schemes. If you can't tell the difference between spams and simple Off-Topic posting, it's probably best to stick to Rat Patrol-related material.

Fanfics

Fanfic Ratings:
Fanfic may be posted to the list but only if it is related to the Rat Patrol or a specific character. Since this is a general list, the fanfic rating may range from G to R (no slash, please). The ratings follow the general movie rating system used in the USA: G, PG, PG-13, R. If you want constructive feedback about your story, please indicate so in the body of the post (see below). If not, you may post, but others will not be allowed to critique the story unless it is to say how much they liked it. (In other words, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all.)

Headings:

Subject lines: Authors should include the following information in the subject line of each part of their fanfics: FIC followed by the title, open parenthesis, number of the current part, a virgule, the total number of parts, a closing parenthesis, and then the rating. If the author is unsure of the rating, send the story to one of the Founders for a suggested rating. Example subject line: FIC Dietrich's Smile (2/5) PG-13.

Body: In the body of the fanfic, the most basic things to include are:
TITLE:
AUTHOR:
COMMENTS:

Posting

Off-Topic Posting:
It's recommended that you label these with OT: in your subject line. Otherwise, just try to keep them to a minimum.

One-Liners:
These are generally "I agree" or "me, too" posts that add nothing to the conversation. These are bad things. They annoy people and clog up mailboxes. Please keep them to an absolute minimum.

Content:
Please keep in mind that there may be underaged children on the list. In terms of language and sexual explicitness: if it keeps with the original spirit of the show, then it's okay for the club. Step beyond those boundaries and you'll receive either a warning or an unsubscription, depending on the nature of the post.

Links

Please feel free to add any links that are appropriate to RP fandom, including historical information, as well as any fan-page links.

Photos

Screen captures from the show, scanned photos of either actors or RP club members, and artwork are all acceptable.

Chats

Chat times will be announced on the club list and on the club calendar. If you need to schedule a chat for any other time, please do so, but be sure to add it to the calendar and announce it on the list. All chats must be RP-related. If you would like to schedule a private chat in the club's chat room, please email one of the founders first.
