| Macross is animated series whose 20 year history has brought it both acclaim and controversy. I became accquanted with Macross when Carl Macek used its plots and animation to create Robotech in the 1980's. Robotech is a combination of three animated series that follows a war across three generations. Many puriests believe that Macek bastardized Macross when his combined it with the other two series. Macek's decision to unite the series was imposed upon him by the FCC. The popularity of Macross in Japan lead to several spin-off (Macross 7, Macross Plus, Macross II). Robotech's popularity in America eventually lead to the release of the Macross spin-offs in this country. |
