I owed you this one from last week. I did it this morning as a “cold one” (i.e., I didn’t work out the solution ahead of time) on the pulse pen. The problem is reasonably straight forward, and the only subtlety comes in when we consider the stress-based failure criterion. We consider the potential failure of each wire in turn, then choose the lower of the two force values as the final solution.
