Does anyone know when the HWs are due next week?

Yeah, HW 1 and 2 are due on Wednesday, and 3 is due on Friday.

Question for Prof. Berger, but I thought others could benefit from it as well:
Do you mind if we do homework problems on scrap computer paper that’s already been printed on one side? Just in the interest of saving a few trees.

Does anyone know which two vectors problem 2-109 is talking about? I assumed it meant vector F and its projection on the z-axis, but the answer in the back of the book is an obtuse angle and so not consistent with that.

Nevermind re question on 2-109. Was looking at the wrong figure.

As I said in class today, go ahead and save paper and trees whenever you can. A good solution is to re-use paper, and another good one it to do homework all on the same sheets but scan it before you submit it.
If there’s support for this, I’d be open to electronic submission, but let’s do the first few on paper…

Question: For Problem 2-114, I cannot seem to get the projection process right. What steps do I need to follow solve a problem which asks” Determine the projected component and express as a Cartesian Vector?”

Re: Problem 2-114
See p. 69 in the book and check out http://www.math.oregonstate.edu/home/programs/undergrad/CalculusQuestStudyGuides/vcalc/dotprod/dotprod.html

Yes, since we have not formally covered this in class just yet, you can review the dot product in the chapter or Google it. You might also find Ex. 2.17 helpful.

The next HW is due Friday in class, right? The schedule says 9/4…

Yes this was a typo on the schedule…the actual due date for the next problem set is Friday 9/5. Sorry for the confusion!
