Recycled: Module 13

February 19th, 2008 · No Comments

I know…you’re thinking “recycled”? Don’t we deserve an original? Well, yes you do, and in class tomorrow 2/20 you will get some great coverage and discussion of the flexure formula. You’ll do some problems and have good discussion with Prof. Bart-Smith. But here’s the thing: this lecture, which was recorded live in class in Spring 2007…it’s really good. Well planned, full of good material, really tells a good story.

If you do nothing else, review the material on slide 4 before class tomorrow–it tells the whole story of how we consider bending strains/stresses as a function of curvature. It also explains the linear strain (and, therefore, stress) distribution across the cross section of a beam subjected to bending. 100% delicious, 100% recycled.
