And the winners are…

  1. Best Picture: The Brooklyn Bridge. This is a really good one, I especially like the history and the truly tragic story of the bridge’s designer. Excellent use of music and overall a really great effort.
  2. Best Screenplay: Empire State Building. Another really good one, lots of great factual information and lots of angles are presented. I really like how the information jumps around from one topic to another, including a Mythbusters-style description of dropping a penny of the observation deck! Also, great use of music to capture the feeling of NYC.
  3. Best Cinematography: Golden Gate Bridge. Good use of images to tell the story, lots of good discussion about construction and technology. Good sourcing.
  4. People’s Choice: Panama Canal (really nice image sequences and a great story to tell), Maccu Picchu (lots of good information about the history and culture), and World’s Tallest Structures (nice pace, good coverage of many different buildings, and great discussion of how the “tallness” relates to local civic pride and economic development.

Kudos to everyone for a great set of projects, and I hope you had some fun in the process. Creating educational materials for your peers, and engaging in peer review, are really powerful educational tools. We will work on these issues more next semester…
