Module 17 podcast

October 17th, 2007 · No Comments

Seems like so long ago…but this is a good one. It introduces us to trusses and to some truss analysis tools. Here you will find a description of two of the key methods for structural analysis: method of joints and method of sections. In general, the method of sections is more powerful in the sense that you can get to specific information quite quickly. But the method of joints is very reliable, if more time consuming.

Either way, there are tons of online resources for this, so you can Google it and you’ll find (for example) this. I strongly encourage you to explore the text and notes, and use other resources you find as well. Becoming an expert in Ch. 6 will pay dividends straight through the rest of the curriculum.
