Welcome to CE 230 for Fall 2007. We’re going to use this blog format for the course instead of Toolkit–this will be a highly collaborative environment in which we can explore and discuss all the course concepts. Moreover, we can ask and answers each others’ questions quickly and asynchronously. This is going to be both fun and useful.
If you are new to blogging (as well as some of the other technology tools we’ll use this semester), don’t worry. We will have some training for you in the first week or so of class, then again in the middle of the semester as you start creating your own podcasts for the course project.
Some preliminary course admin: please download the syllabus and have a look before we meet tomorrow. Remember that our class meets in Thornton Hall, room E316, from 12-12.50.
Also we’re going to be doing quite alot of podcasting this semester, and you’ll want to use iTunes to subscribe to the RSS feed for this blog. That way all the media content will automatically be downloaded to your iTunes podcast directory and you will have all the resources with you on your computer at all times.
To Begin
You will get lots more training on this as we go. The goal here is for the technology to not be a hurdle, but rather to really help you get the most out of the course.

Hey everybody, my name’s Andy Smith and I was in Prof. Berger’s class last fall and I have the textbook (Statics 11th Ed by Hibbeler) for $85 which is about 15 cheaper than used anywhere else i think. My email is ats5b@virginia.edu so shoot me one back if you’d like it or to make a counteroffer. Thanks everybody.
