Introduction to the hardware and analysis of magnetic bearing technology. This is a graduate level seminar aimed at providing a broad based background in the key issues underpinning this technology. Students should gain a perspective enabling them to pursue specific research interests in this field.
Lecture notes available from this web site in:
Electrical circuits, introductory magnetics, linear algebra, introductory controls, introductory vibrations
One lecture per week, one to two hours long.
This seminar is ungraded and carries no credit. What a novelty! You take this course only if you want to learn about magnetic bearings and the only reward is the knowledge that you gain through the lecture and working any examples we cook up.
