Exam question, 2007

David Auble

1. (20 points) Congratulations, you’ve solved the structure of a novel complex, which is shown below.  Write an abstract describing the key structural features of the complex, comparing it to others discussed in class.  Your colleagues have encouraged you to send an abstract with your application to the annual ASBMB meeting.  Since you hope to get a talk and the abstract has a 150 word limit, you must determine what is most important and write carefully.  As required for the meeting, add the word count in parentheses at the end of the abstract.  You may use class notes and handouts, as well as anything on the Auble lectures web site, but no other resources.  No discussion or consultation with anyone else.  You have 45 minutes.  Email your answer to dta4n@virginia.edu

Answer: 1TF3.pdb. Most people did commendably on this question, but note that as would occur in the real world, a couple people were penalized for not confining their answer to the specified guidelines.
