I have been a professor at the University of Virginia since the fall of 1997 and am in both the cognitive and social areas.

Since 2008, I have also held a half-time appointment at the Law School.  (Here is my law info.)

Broadly defined, my research focuses on higher order cognition; in particular I am interested in analogical, causal, and inductive reasoning; inhibition in memory; metamemory; and, increasingly, in what psychology can offer the legal system.

Students who want to work with me should have serious backgrounds in law; a J.D. is best but other experience might suffice.

You can see a list of my publications or visit my lab website to see what we are working on now.

If you want to learn more about me than you can possibly want to know, you can take a look at my vita.
