Ode to a fan regulator ---------------------- I've never seen anything greater Than you, dear regulator, The golden bliss Of your service To me, you chose to cater. For be it any time, What'er the month or clime, Your wondrous spell Does thoughts dispel And brings me sleep sublime. And even in my dream Your complexion of cream, The dusky tan Upon that fan Does wander in and gleam. You ne'er an excuse make to steal a moment's break With huff and puff You run enough, I sleep....you stay awake. You never do complain Of tedium or pain, But night and day You toil away, Your power does never wane. A gentle touch of your switch And smooth, without a twitch Your blades do race And increase pace Their motion soars in pitch. And with the strength of thunder They cleave the air asunder, From high above, They send their love, As I watch in awe, and wonder. Fatigue does never cease The flow of your soothing breeze, And men may shout or crib about, You don't, you aim to please. If only you could speak! Well be it Latin, Greek We'd sing and dance In sprightly prance And play throughout the week. I recall still that day Your blades just stopped their play Something was wrong And before long You were ta'en away. I was quite amazed, Not to mention dazed! And then I learnt Your circuit's burnt, And you might be replaced. I was quite forlorn, Couldn't believe you're gone!! I thought that day You'd passed away.... I cried throughout the dawn. ...then one day, back you came, Crooked, a wee bit lame, Although at length You regained strength, You were never quite the same. Today you're old and weak, Your tired, your plugs do creak, Those who behold You call you old, But I just say, `antique'.... Regulator, You've served me well. Without you, life is hell! You're in my heart, But we must part, Adieu my pal, farewell!!
