Webassign
Instructions
To log onto webassign, your username is your UVa e-mail ID (alphanumeric string where the first characters are your initials and the last have been assigned randomly) and the password is the corresponding password (i.e. the one you use for, e.g. accessing you UVa e-mail). Usage of webassign is fairly straightforward, and you should quickly be able to master it: effectively, the only thing you'll need to do is to enter the numerical answer(s) to each problem in the appropriate space. You can also find more detailed webassign instructions here, even though we do not expect that you will need all those detailed instructions. Moreover, you should ignore the information regarding logging in and password, since we are not using the standard webassign portal to login, but we exploit the one provided specially by UVa ITC (which has the advantage of letting you use your standard computer ID and password).
For the first homework, you will be given 10 chances to enter each correct answer, we will reduce this to 5 for the later homeworks. Important note : Webassign will accept your answer as good if it is within 1% of the answer it has stored. This means that, in general, you should be safe if you enter your answer with three significant figures. Do not waste entries unnecessarily: if you entered, e.g., 3.15 as an answer, and webassign did not accept it as good, it would be useless to try 3.1415926. You should instead double check your procedure and your calculations, and see if you have made an error somewhere.
