Lee and Garry Winogrand, David Newman is an artist working in photography
for the past twenty five years. During this period, he has moved from working
on the street with a Leica to photographing materia l fabricated in order
to be photographed in the studio with a view camera. This shift in means
is correlative with a shift in concern from the representation of the particular
situation of individuals on the street to the investigation of essential
cha racteristics of form, light and representation, abstracted from the
concrete particularity of individuals. David has more
